New ELL Constitution Club in Troy, Michigan!
This could just be the best news ELL has had since we began the program in late 2004. I am traveling to Troy, Michigan, to hold an informational meeting for our first ever ELL Constitution Club outside of my own backyard (St. Louis Metro East). Kelly Kinkade, a law student at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, has enthusiastically agreed to become our first out-of-state moderator. And, The Kilgour Centre (at 2360 Rochester Court, Troy, MI) has agreed to provide what looks to be a most comfortable facility for our club meetings.
Kelly and myself will be at the Centre at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014, for a most enlightening evening. We will be getting out the publicity for this event in a few days. Essentially, we will explain to as many as can attend what our clubs do and how they are organized. I will present a Powerpoint program and provide numerous handouts to all. If all goes as expected, the ELL Constitution Club of Troy, Michigan, will then hold it first official meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Kilgour Centre. They will then be meeting on the 3rd Monday of each month thereafter.
This is going to provide a great opportunity for club members at long distance to interact with each other on a new page of our website we are constructing now and I just know it will be the catalyst for club growth throughout the nation. Thanks, Kelly. I know you are going to enjoy the ride and we all appreciate your willingness to give back to your community in this manner.
